Peggie here. Note that it isn't Peggy. But I didn't know that until I was old enough to need a birth certificate for the Learner's Permit Test. Crazy, huh? And bringing that up is part of my passively aggressively putting off writing this page...
I'd rather not talk about myself! I'm usuaIly seen as a good listener. I'm empathetic. I try to be absolutely honest, both to me and to others. So I know that I'm one of those love me or hate me kinds of people. I'm blunt. Brutally honest. I have zero tolerance for laziness and ignorance. (Thieves too, but that doesn't really apply, does it?)
However, I don't want to give you the wrong impression. You see, I'm also my own harshest critic. I'm a perfectionist, but far from perfect. Ask friends and family to describe me and you might get a completely different picture of me. And for the record, just writing this mandatory page makes me feel a bit, well, self-conscious!
You're still reading? OK! So what else do you need or want to know about me? Maybe something like these facts:
- My introduction to entrepreneurial life occurred when I was nine years old when I began 'workin' in my parents' grocery store, George Baisden's Grocery, in Chapmanville, West Virginia.
- I learned to draw before I learned to write. Drawing was easy. Cursive handwriting was the bane of my forth grade report card. Even today, I prefer to print.
- I am perpetually happy and eternally optimistic. Painful memories have a very short shelf life in my world. I don't hold grudges.
- I believe that I was created by an omniscient, omnipresent, loving God for His service. His Word, The Bible, is the ultimate guide book.
- I believe in abundance. There is enough of everything for everyone. The more we give, the more we have. But the giving should not preclude the recipient working! (2 Thessalonians 3:6-13) Nor should the giving reward graft or sloth. (Ephesians 4:28)
- While I have a BS in biology and art, most of what I know I've taught myself with books, training dvds, youTube, webinars, trial-and-error, and (probably most important) perseverance.
- I taught Art at Logan Central for 1 year, then Art and Science for 2.5 years at Man High School, then transferred to Logan High School to teach Art and Computer Graphics.
- Before that, I made my mad money by drawing and painting portraits, and creating hand-made quilts. (Thank you Owen and Wendy Nagle of Appalachian Arts and Crafts in California for 'finding me'.) Arthritis made that painful, so my son, Josh, introduced me to Photoshop. What a blessing! Now I use Adobe CS5, Lightroom, a Waacom Tablet, and many other too cool tools to create digital art. You know what they say about doors: When one closes, another one opens. You just have to be ready (and willing) to move.
- As the camera slowly became my art-creating tool of choice, new streams of income opened up. We built our studio in 2009 and moved all the accumulated photography equipment out of our empty-nest bedrooms of our home.
- In June 2011, I resigned my teaching position and began as full-time photographer at pbh Art, Inc.
- My husband, four children, six grandchildren, and large extended family enrich my life beyond description.
- I love to read, draw, write, and learn. I love yellow, horses, and solitude.
- I have more shoes than any one woman could possibly need, but tend to wear the same four pair.
- I love all things tech.
Made it to here? Thank you! I like to think there is way more to know about me. If you're still interested, (Am I being conceited?) I hang out in these places:
