It's funny how perceptions of our youth are so far removed from the realities of our adult life experience. As a teen I thought I wanted nothing to do with children. Now they are at the center of my life, both personally and professionally. And after the last few photo sessions with delightfully rambunctious children, I STILL adore working with them! A dear friend, also a pro photographer, called me after her first session with children and moaned, "Peggie, It. Was. HELL!" I can relate.
Previously, that has meant I would be gearing up for Back to School. It was always a bittersweet time: I loved teaching; I loved not teaching. A conundrum. An enigma.
As former colleagues and dear teacher friends are going back into their classrooms, I'm remembering why I became a teacher... And why I left teaching. There's a book here, but I'll give you the condensed (REALLY condensed) version.
